Phantom Blade Zero missables and points of no return

Read the documented cutoff, the Quick Hand Pendant decision and the Tales named in Game8’s index. Coverage is limited to the published information described below.

Is there a point of no return?

Game8 states: “Chapter 4: Snake's Reflection, specifically, the boss fight with Bai Chilian is a major point of no return in the game. After defeating Bai Chilian, two settlements, the Outpost and the Thieves' Den, will have their NPCs wiped and replaced with maskless NPCs.”

Game8 identifies the Bai Chilian fight in Chapter 4, Snake's Reflection, as the point after which the Outpost and Thieves' Den lose their original NPCs. Finish all Tales and NPC objectives before that fight; the settlement interactions may no longer be available afterward.

Missable accessories

According to Game8, Quick Hand Zhang is trapped in a cage near the Trail of Cages Bell in Crimson Forest during Chapter 3. You can rescue him or leave him there.

Game8 says rescuing him awards the Quick Hand Pendant, which increases damage with one-handed weapons by 10%; leaving him behind permanently loses the accessory.

Missable Tales

Game8's Tales index supplies the names below. Its warning concerns NPC interactions in the Outpost and Thieves' Den; it does not establish that each individual Tale in this index is missable.

  • Flesh Lily
  • Purge the Sect
  • A Severed Mindseal
  • Honor Among Thieves
  • Festering Secret
  • Apprentice Healer
  • A Healer's Mercy
  • Secrets of the Baishan Sect
  • A Puppet's Wooden Heart
  • Young Master Lan
  • Four Fierce Axes
  • Dahuang

A contradiction in the source

Our observation: Game8 uses Thieves' Camp in its body text and Thieves' Den in its points-of-no-return section. We use Thieves' Den and treat the two names as referring to the same settlement.

What this page is not

We have not played the game. This page assembles published information about the trophies and missables we can confirm today. The Bai Chilian fight is the only point of no return we can confirm from this material; that does not establish that no other point exists. See our separate page on missable trophies.
